1. Purpose
This Refund Policy explains the general refund, cancellation, exchange and postponement rules for tickets sold through SchoolTix. Event-specific refund rules may appear on the event page and must be read together with this Policy.
2. Who decides refunds
The School or Event Organiser is generally responsible for deciding whether a ticket is refundable, exchangeable or transferable, subject to applicable law. SchoolTix provides the technical platform and may help process approved refunds through the relevant Payment Provider.
3. General rule
Unless the event page states otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise, tickets are not automatically refundable after purchase. Booking fees, service fees, payment processing fees and administrative fees may be non-refundable where those services have already been provided or costs have already been incurred.
4. Customer mistakes
Refunds are not guaranteed where a customer purchased the wrong ticket, selected the wrong seat, entered incorrect details, purchased duplicate tickets, cannot attend for personal reasons or failed to arrive on time. Customers should contact the School as soon as possible if an error occurs.
5. Cancelled events
If an event is cancelled, the School or Event Organiser must decide and communicate whether ticket holders will receive a refund, replacement ticket, credit, donation option or other remedy, subject to applicable law. SchoolTix may assist with processing approved refunds.
6. Postponed or rescheduled events
If an event is postponed or rescheduled, tickets may remain valid for the new date unless the School decides otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise. Refund eligibility will depend on the School’s event-specific rules and applicable law.
7. Seat changes
Where allocated seating is used, seat changes may occur for operational, safety, venue or technical reasons. A seat change does not automatically entitle a customer to a refund if the replacement seat or area is reasonably comparable, unless applicable law or the School’s event rules provide otherwise.
8. Refund process
A refund request should include the event name, school name, ticket reference, purchaser name, purchaser email, reason for refund and proof of payment if requested.
Refund requests may be submitted to the School or through SchoolTix support where available.
The School or Event Organiser may approve or reject the request according to the event rules and applicable law.
Approved refunds will be processed through the original payment method where possible, or another method approved by the School and Payment Provider.
9. Processing time
Refund processing times depend on the School, SchoolTix, banks and Payment Providers. SchoolTix cannot guarantee exact bank processing times after a refund has been submitted to the Payment Provider.
10. Chargebacks
Customers should not use chargebacks as a substitute for the refund process unless there is a genuine payment dispute. If a chargeback is made and the ticket has been used, is valid, or the claim is unfounded, the customer may be liable for chargeback fees, administrative costs and ticket cancellation.
11. Manual EFT and pay-at-school refunds
Where payment was made by manual EFT or directly to the School, the School is responsible for confirming payment and processing any approved refund unless otherwise agreed in writing with SchoolTix.
12. Consumer rights
Nothing in this Policy limits any consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.
